Let’s talk about some strange **** that happened. But first, a reflection…
I started blogging almost twelve years ago. Looking back, I’ve noticed that the content has evolved over time.
For the first few years, I talked incessantly about my pittance of voiceover gigs and how awesome I thought I was. Needless to say, I didn’t have much of a following.
Then I started to talk about my voiceover blunders and what I’ve learned from them. We admire people more for their flaws than their virtues so that made it at least somewhat more digestible.
Lately I’ve talking about important events in the voiceover industry because some strange **** has been going down. This has evoked a number of positive responses from y’all and I sincerely thank you for that. Interestingly, most of you have sent me private correspondences rather than commenting publicly. I think it’s because we have been discussing serious, sensitive subjects and I totally understand your reluctance. BTW if you ever want to comment anonymously just PM me and I’ll post it without mentioning you by name.
Speaking of strange **** going down, I got a very interesting email yesterday. Someone or someones compiled a dossier called “Voices Dot Com: Follow the Numbers”.
Click here to read the dossier: Voices Dot Com Dossier
FYI shortly after Deep Throat sent me the dossier, it was posted elsewhere. The difference between what I posted and what was posted elsewhere is that I have not published the conclusions that were drawn by the author of the dossier. I want you to draw your own conclusions.
TIP OF THE WEEK
What does all of this mean? I leave that up to you. I will say that it is more important than ever to do your own research on any subject whether it be political, voiceover-ical, or otherwise. The voiceover industry is not for the faint of heart. Complacency, ignorance, laziness, and selfishness won’t get you far. You need to understand what the voiceover industry is, how it works, and why it works.
No blog next week. I’m going to Hawaii on vacation. Whoohoo!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
(On Calvin Coolidge) Mr. Coolidge’s genius for inactivity is developed to a very high point. It is not an indolent inactivity. It is a grim, determined, alert inactivity, which keeps Mr. Coolidge occupied constantly. Columnist Walter Lippmann, 1926
