Remember last week when I said it was THAT time of year again? I stressed some of the negative aspects of it, but of course there are lots of things to enjoy and look forward to this season. One of those (unless you hate your job, co-workers, friends, family, food, booze, and fun) is the tradition of holiday parties. For the eighth year in a row, I got to enjoy the company of many dear friends & fellow voice talents at the Voice Over Cafe 2015 Holiday Extravaganza!
Normally this is an all-weekend bender for me and I crash in NYC for a couple of nights but it didn’t work out that way this year. My BFF had her birthday dinner the same night in New Jersey so I did some party double-dipping and went to both that (awesome Ethiopian food!) and the VO Cafe party at Hurley’s Saloon in Midtown Manhattan.
Obligatory steppin’ out selfie!
Me and my bestie Carly being silly at her birthday dinner.
Me and some of the gang at Hurley’s. BTW there were well over 50 voicers in attendance!
A big thank-you to the Voice Over Cafe staff for putting together yet another memorable event!
TIP OF THE WEEK
Here are some quick industry holiday partying tips:
Dress to impress! Don’t look like you just walked out of a hot yoga class. Look nice for yourself and for everyone else.
Don’t expect to network, but be prepared. Bring business cards/pens/small swag, but don’t start every conversation cramming them into a stranger’s hand. If it comes up organically, great but don’t push it.
Watch your alcohol intake. A couple of cocktails is fine in mixed company, but just be aware of your surroundings and of course make sure you’re safe to drive. You wouldn’t want an embarrassing pic or five to show up on Facebook, now would you…?
NEWS AND NOTES!
My last Edge Studio “Business and Money 201” webinar of 2015 will be Thursday, December 10th @8PM EST. There we’ll talk about how to write your Mission Statement, Annual Goals, and Monthly Action Plans for 2016. Click here to sign up.
HAPPY HAPPYS!
Happy Brownie Day and Human Rights Day! I think they should be celebrated very day, don’t you…?
