So…2020.
It’s been a helluva year but you don’t need me to tell you that. From a voiceover perspective it’s been interesting. Here’s a brief breakdown of 2020 for me as a voice actor:
Cash Flow: with two weeks to go, I made more in 2020 than I did in 2019 but the proportion of genres changed. I did less commercials and industrials but more ADR, promo, podcast, and news article narration. I like that because I’m expanding into different genres.
Tools: I got a new computer, new headphones, a new pop filter, and a new shock mount. I also produced a Telephony Demo.
Technique: I started getting regular coaching in Commercial narration. It’s having a positive influence in all of my genres since I’m now focusing more on acting which I damn well should since I’m a theatre-trained actor.
Marketing: my marketing efforts were COVID-centric in nature, if that makes any sense. I was trying to connect on a more human-to-human level by sending more personalized correspondences. Did it work? It’s hard to say, but I did have some heartfelt conversations with many potential, existing, and past clients and that’s always a good thing.
Health: I lost ten pounds and my cholesterol levels are lower than last year.
