Hello and Happy Greenpeace Day, hippies! Kidding, kidding, kidding. It’s just that every time I hear or see the word hippies, it conjures an image of Eric Cartman from South Park and it just cracks me up…
I’m a trained stage actor. Or was, at least. When I discovered voiceovers, that part of my life was basically over. I did some theater after that but I didn’t seek it out. Don’t get me wrong; I love doing theater, but the voiceover industry just seems to suit me better. There is one part of my theater life that I miss: performing at the New York Renaissance Faire!
That’s me on the right as Thomas Mutton in my first year. I was part of the improvisational company where we would run around and have fun messing with the visitors.
That’s me as Rancid Harry, the village leper. I had this huge pile of rubber fingers, tongues, eyeballs, etc. that I would freak out everyone with. If took me 1 1/2 hours to get into makeup every morning but it was worth it!
That’s me as Wally Doodle, village cartographer and part of the Story Tyme Children’s Theater troupe.
And that’s me on the right as Much the Miller, one of Robin Hood’s Merry Band. In the pic I’m battling my old friend Don Kilcoyne on the Living Chess Board in front of about 1,000 people. Dig the tights, yo!
TIP OF THE WEEK: I bring this up because for the first time in almost 20 years, I went back to visit. Some of my friends still work there! It was like visiting the town you grew up in after a long time away. It was different but the same, you know? Anyway, I was away for far too long and it was a very special time in my life. I met some amazing people that to this day I am proud to call friend. If you’ve never gone, go!
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
Be your own self. Love what YOU love. Ray Bradbury
STUFF!: I just wanted to say thanks for all of the birthday wishes! Many of you called or sent personal messages and that means a lot to me. Since I’ll be at FaffCon I won’t be posting a GKN Weekly Update next week. You’ll have a nice big fat one next time!
From Tom Dheere’s apartment, this is Tom Dheere: GKN News…
