Happy Mother’s Day! I hope all you moms got the love, respect, and footrubs you all deserve. My mom got a basket of gardenias and breakfast!
The big event last week was attending Erik Sheppard and Lindsay Reiss’s wedding. It was a honor to be asked to celebrate with them and celebrate we did!
That’s me:
That’s the happy couple:
That’s the cake (red velvet, yeah!):
One of the best parts of the night was the amount of wonderful VO colleagues that were also in attendance. I noticed an interesting thing, though. When we went into the reception hall, everyone else found their places and sat down immediately. Not us! We just stood around our tables jabbering away, taking pictures of everything that moved (and didn’t!) and uploaded the pics to Facebook. This thing had more live coverage than the Royal Wedding! Ron Levine even took some video of us dancing.
I had a wonderful, memorable time!
TIP OF THE WEEK: I tend to look at all events I attend from a networking perspective. This time, however, it didn’t even occur to me until someone brought it up at the wedding. There were some voiceover “muckety-mucks” there and an obvious networking opportunity. I did not capitalize on it, even though I was introduced to many of them. It just didn’t feel right. This was a time to come together and celebrate something very special, not to hobnob. Many times I have seen people embarrass themselves in situations like this so be mindful, my friends…
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: The more you know who you are and what you want, the less things upset you. Bill Murray from “Lost In Translation”
STUFF!: I just want to say congratulations to Erik and Lindsay. The wedding was perfect. I was delighted to witness the nuptials and party like a rock star!
