Data: Should Performers Care?

Should performers care about data?

Hell yeah, they should care about data. I mean, I'm a little biased. I love data. I love spreadsheets. I love to analyze things. But I gotta tell you, it has had a huge benefit on my voiceover career specifically.

The trick is...

What should you be analyzing? How you should be analyzing it? What should you be tracking and how you should be tracking it?

Data tells stories.

Data tells stories about your story. What is your journey as a performing artist? Where did you start? What did you learn? How were you trained? How are you applying that training? How well are you auditioning? How often are you booking? What are the results of that booking? Do those bookings turn into more bookings? Also, how are you marketing yourself? In what manner on what social media platforms are you blogging? Are you cold calling? Or are you posting on social media? Are you sending newsletters? All that inbound and outbound marketing, what's working, what isn't working?

I've got laundry to do.

I am a busy, busy person. And I wanna be as efficient and as effective as possible in my marketing efforts, in my auditioning, in my bookkeeping. A lot of us want to work as little as possible so we can have as much fun as possible.

That's a very human, normal trait, and that's totally understandable. But having the ability to analyze your business, what's working, what isn't working, why is it working? Why isn't it working? How do you keep doing what's working and when should you stop doing what isn't working?
